Rose to another day in paradise, cup of coffee, then a long walk on the beach, the tide was well out so we decided to go around to the area where we were fishing the night before, we had lost a bit of gear and wanted to try to find it to get the nylon out of the water as there are a lot of turtles around. We did find our gear and a lot more fishing line that had been broken off.
We walked for hours checking all the little rock pools, most had baitfish in them as well as a variety of large and small crabs. We came across 10 octopus in the ponds, they were amazing to watch changing colours for attack and then blending eith the sand as they went to swim away, one decided Mervwas too close so he tried inking him, quite funny.
There was even ponds with shovel nosed sharks in them.
After brunch we took the canoes around to the boat ramp area and headed out into the bay.
We put lures on our lines and paddled the complete bay trolling them, Merv picked up a cod which was smaller than the lure, then it was head for the magrove side of the bay, we tried baits there with not a lot of luck until we came around to the creek mouth, Merv caught a nice estuary cod, that was dinner, we caught other smaller fish but we had enough for dinner so they went back.
It was coming on dark when we got back, there was people at the ramp cleaning fish, most caught from the shore, golden trevalley and estuary cod mostly, someone did catch a giant trevalley from their dinghy but threw it back.
It was a fabulous day in the canoes, paddling so far out, the water crystal clear, been able to see the big rays and turtles swim around under you.
