1st May 2014

Early rise but the tide is too low to go out fishing in the boat, we had some bait that hadto be used so we went along to a section of exposed reef and threw out a line, we were there for catch and release, we caught several different types, then we decided just to toss the bait in the water and watch the fish come to eat it, it was amazing as the tide came inthe water went under the reef and the big holes filled, it was like feeding fish at an equarium.
Later we decided to walk the other way, I wanted to see if we could wak to the end of the mangroves, the camers and a bottle of water and we headed off, it wasn't long before we saw lots of turtles and rays.
We walked until we did come to where the mangrove ends, I don't know how far it was but I was certainly feeling it in my calfs and feet.
It was beautiful the water opened up,  big channels through the mangroves and more beach and reef, I normally want to walk to the next corner to have a look, but not today, I know why it is called 40 mile beach.
We found a road to walk back on, so tomorrow we will head out and do a little more exploring.
It was pretty warm so whe we got back Merv went for a snorkel in the mangroves while I had a dip to cool off.
After lunch it was head around to the reef to throw a couple of plastic lures around, getting practice, I sat with my feet in the (spas) while Merv practiced, he caught a couple fo small cod, which was released, then got onto a big one, it ended up taking the line under a rock so that one got away.
While we were there we saw an osprey catch a fish very close to us and carry it off to its nest
Beer o'clock time.
