25th May 2014 Leycester Rest Area

Left Fitzroy Crossing approx 9am, stopped at a few lookouts, then stopped at Halls Creek for fuel.
Halls Creek was a real surprise, new houses everywhere, no locals sitting around in the park, things looked very clean, different from 5 years ago.
The fuel staton was very busy, dam caravan after caravan of grey nomads,  ha ha. It was a Coles fuel which was good it meant we could get our $2 milk and cheaper bread.
When we got to the rest area it was quite full, the rest area is on the upper Ord River before it gets to Lake Argyle, which meant nice clean running water to cool off in, which we did, the water came over a rock that was nicely shoulder height, so sitting back near that was just like a spa.
A walk around before dinner up onto the new bridge around dusk, we did see a lot of cattle about, a truck went passed, as he ronded the corner we noticed he applied brakes, but kept going, it wasn't long after there was a scream of tyres, we waited for the crunch but didn't hear anything,  the next momemt a car came around the corner,  the driver jumped out, along with 3 kids, checking the front of the car and the drivers side,at a distance we couldn't see any damage, the annoying part was he took off like an idiot with no regard for the safety of his 3 children.
The rest area was made by the locals of Halls Creek in honour of a 13 year old boy who lived in Halls Creek, he was killed in a single car accident at the site, it was named after him with a big photo and information.
We lit the fire pot tonight, first time since we have been away.
