Today was a day to explore Adelaide River, its not a big town but it has some interesting history.
The caravan Park was good nice shady trees and clean amenities.
The day started with a big lay in drinking coffee and reading, then breakfast and check out the markets..
We walked along to the war cemetery that holds the remains of all the victims of the 2nd ww from the Darwin and surrounding areas.
There was a public cemetery adjoined to the war cemetery for all the civilians that were killed when Japan bombed Darwin.
The amount was staggering, in the visitor centre they run a film and they say that the true figures weren't given out at the time for fear of panic, there was hundreds, there is a special area for all the postal workers that were killed, the bombs hit the post office first.
When you start to read all the headstones of the service personnel and see how young most of them were it is quite upsetting, to think these young men, some as young as 17 lost their life so we could enjoy the life we have, but what is worst to think of all the young people today that spend that life on drugs or drink.
We walked across the old crossing and saw quite a few fish, no big ones.
